The new film The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, adapted by and based on Gabrielle Zevin’s novel of the same name, tells the story of a disgruntled and recently widowed bookstore owner on a small island struggling to find purpose in his life. Among the other great characters in the ensemble is Lambiase, a local cop who finds more excitement in the pages of mystery novels than he does in his small-town job and develops a warm friendship with Fikry.
I had the chance to speak with David Arquette, who portrays Lambiase, about the appeal of this endearing project and getting to know the locals in Cape Cod, where the film was shot.
He also talked about his experiences being part of the Scream franchise and what he’s come to learn about horror fans, as well as other notable moments from his extensive and impressive career.

Film summary:
Based on the New York Times best-selling novel, bookstore owner A.J. Fikry’s (Kunal Nayyar) life is not turning out as he expected as he struggles both emotionally and financially.
After his wife’s tragic death, he feels lost and left behind in the rapidly evolving world of today. As he tries to keep his store afloat, he begins to drink his sorrows away ultimately hitting rock bottom when his most prized possession, a series of Edgar Allen Poe poems, are stolen. But when a mysterious package appears at the bookstore, the unexpected arrival gives Fikry a new lease on life, and love, that are greater than he ever imagined.
The film also stars Lucy Hale, Christina Hendricks, Scott Foley, and David Arquette.
