Sony Pictures has released a new clip for “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” from the upcoming biopic centers around the life of Whitney Houston. The film is set to arrive in theaters on December 21 in U.S
The clips shows Naomi Ackie’s performance of one of the most iconic moments of Houston’s career: singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl. It shows the listeners’ reaction as Houston belted out her incredible voice.

“I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” a title was borrowed from one of Houston’s iconic songs, and directed by Kasi Lemmons (Harriet) from a screenplay written by Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody). Joining Ackie are Stanley Tucci, Ashton Sanders, Tamara Tunie, Nafessa Williams, and Clarke Peters.
Producers are McCarten, Grammy-winning producer Clive Davis, Pat Houston, and Primary Wave’s Larry Mestel and Denis O’Sullivan, with Stella Meghie (“The Photograph“), who was previously attached to direct, still serving as an executive producer. Due to the blessing of Houston’s estate and Davis, the project has been authorized to use the late singer’s catalog and vocals.
