“Gladiator” star Joaquin Phoenix and Director Ridley Scott have retuned to tackle one more historical action epic film. Sony and Apple have released a brand new trailer for “Napoleon,” directed by Scott and starring Phoenix as iconic French commander Napoleon Bonaparte.

The film depicts Napoleon’s rise to power through the lens of his addictive and volatile relationship with Empress Joséphine.A screenplay by David Scarpa, the film is an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine, played by Vanessa Kirby. In addition to Phoenix as the original short king, the film stars Ben Miles, Matthew Needham, Tahar Rahim, Youssef Kerkour and Phil Cornwell, among others.

The trailer captured the battlefield scenes chronicling the French military commander and political leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution, eventually becoming the Emperor of the French in 1804.

 An Apple Studios production in conjunction with Scott Free Productions, “Napoleon” is produced by Scott, Kevin Walsh, Mark Huffam and Phoenix, with Michael Pruss and Aidan Elliott serving as executive producers.

The film will first be released exclusively in theaters worldwide, in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, on Wednesday, November 22, before streaming globally on Apple TV+.
