Lady Gaga will reportedly be appearing in the second season of Wednesday, a horror-inflected TV show starring Jenna Ortega in the title role. Launched on Netflix in 2022, Wednesday focuses on the character of Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family, the offbeat television show from the 1960s.

Back in January of 2023, Ortega had expressed her wish that Gaga would join her in the series. She was quoted in Variety as saying: “I’m sure Netflix would love that. I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”

Though Lady Gaga is known primarily as a singer, she has a number of film credits under her belt, including roles in A Star is Born, House of Gucci, and Joker: Folie à Deux. She also won a Golden Globe award for her television role in the fifth season of American Horror Story.

The versatile performer is also working on her seventh solo album, which will be released in February of 2025. Its lead single, “Disease” was released in October. Lady Gaga also garnered two Grammy nominations for “Die With a Smile,” an acclaimed duo she recorded with Bruno Mars earlier this year.

“Playing a strung-out girl my whole career was a way for me to split off from my true self, but, it’s all me,” she told an interviewer for Entertainment Weekly. Speaking of her role as Harleen Quinzel in the Joker film, she added: “I was on a path that was pretty futile because I was so split off from reality. My dedicated fans know this about me, that playing a persona had a price, and it has a price for Lee and her love of Joker. There’s definitely a way that I address that on this record.”

Details about Lady Gaga’s role are still unclear. Other actors returning to Wednesday include Gwendoline Christie, Luis Guzman, Christina Ricci, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Ricci had earlier appeared In the 1991 Addams Family movie.

The second season of Wednesday will also introduce some new performers, including Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor. Guest stars will include Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo.
