Paramount Pictures will distribute A Quiet Place Part III in theaters on July 9, 2027, Deadline is reporting. The series’ creator, John Krasinski, also announced the release date on Instagram.

The Emmy-nominated actor-filmmaker will write, direct and produce the fourth entry in the acclaimed horror series. His return as the filmmaker comes after he penned and helmed the first two installments, and produced all three previous entries, in the franchise.

Krasinski and Allyson Seeger’s Sunday Night Productions are producing A Quiet Place Part III with Platinum Dunes. Sunday Night has a first-look deal with the studio.

Paramount has not confirmed any cast members for the upcoming drama. The studio also hasn’t revealed any plot details for the new movie, but it may serve as a follow-up to A Quiet Place Part II.

The series take place on Earth after alien monsters crashed on the planet. While the creatures are blind, they are sensitive to sound. As a result, they’re able to find and kill anything or anyone that makes noise. Humans must stay quiet to avoid being killed.

Last year’s third entry in the franchise, A Quiet Place: Day One, served as a spin-off and prequel to the original movie. Pig writer-director Michael Sarnoski scribed and helmed the film.

The series has grossed over $900 million worldwide across its first three installments. The initial entry premiered at SXSW as the festival’s opening-night film in 2018. The drama then earned $50.2 million during its opening weekend the following month. It ended its theatrical run by grossed nearly $153 million domestically and $341 million globally.

The film stars Krasinski and his wife, Emily Blunt, as well as Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds. Paramount has not confirmed Blunt, Jupe and Simmonds’ participation in the sequel.

A Quiet Place Part II was quickly greenlit and produced after the first film’s success. The sequel went on to premiere in New York City on March 8, 2020. Paramount subsequently pushed the sequel’s official theatrical release over a year to May 28, 2021, due to the onset of nationwide COVID-19 lockdowns.

But upon the sophomore entry’s opening release during Memorial Day weekend in 2021, it garnered $57 million. It ended its theatrical run with a $160 million domestic and $297.3 million global total. Blunt, Jupe and Simmonds returned for the sequel, which received a BAFTA nomination for Best Sound.

The franchise’s next installment, A Quiet Place: Day One, chronicles the onset of the alien apocalypse in New York City. The movie stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn. It garnered $52.2 million during its opening weekend of June 28 last year, and then earned a total $139 million domestic and $262 million global haul.

Before stepping behind the camera for the horror series, Krasinski’s breakout role as an actor was as fan favorite character Jim Halpert on The Office. He later starred as the titular character on the Amazon Prime series Jack Ryan. The performer also appeared in such movies as It’s Complicated, Promised Land and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. He most recently starred opposite Natalie Portman in the Apple Original Films heist action-adventure movie, Fountain of Youth.

Krasinski and Paramount have been considering making A Quiet Place‘s fourth installment for some time. The filmmaker announced in 2022 that the follow-up was targeting a 2025 release, but they didn’t meet that goal. During that interim, he directed the fantasy comedy IF for the studio.
