The trailer for Justin Lin’s new biographical drama “Last Days“, which premiered in theaters on October 24th, has been released by Vertical.
The film depicts the journey of 26-year-old American missionary John Allen Chau, who aims to fulfill his life’s mission by embarking on a treacherous adventure. His goal was to travel to North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean without permission and share his religion with the self-sufficient and indigenous Sentinelese people.
An Indian police detective from the Andaman Islands is attempting to stop him from contacting him before he damages himself or the tribe.
Chau tried to get in touch with the Sentinelese people multiple times before he was killed by the tribe in 2019. The Sentinelese tribisre is highly isolated and has a hostile attitude towards outsiders. The Indian Government, which guards the island to keep people out, won’t prosecute the Sentinelese for killing people if an outsider ventures there.
The script for the film was modified by screenwriter Ben Ripley to match the Outside magazine article ‘The Last Days of John Allen Chau’ by Alex Perry.
