Will Smith has reportedly been set to star in the action-thriller “Supermax” which Amazon MGM Studios has acquired from Miramax for a deal around the $70 million mark.
Will Smith has made it clear that he will be playing in David Gordon Green’s action-thriller Supermax, which revolves around two FBI agents investigating a murder that took place in the world’s most secure prison.
The project, which represents Smith’s first non-franchise studio movie in recent years, will be directed by David Gordon Green, who is known for his work in Halloween and Scarpetta.
According to reports, the film will only be available on Amazon for streaming (Ala. “Voltron“, “Road House“), not a theatrical title like the upcoming “Masters of the Universe“.
The script written by David Weil and David J. Rosen (“Hunters,” “Invasion“) revolves around two FBI agents who are investigating a murder that took place in one of the safest prisons in the world.
Additional casting is currently underway and the filming is expected to begin in mid-August. Smith, Adam Fishbach, Andrew Rona, and Alex Heineman are producing.
“Bad Boys: Ride Or Die” is Smith’s only film in the past four years.
