For Ridley Scott‘s latest offering, “The Dog Stars,” 20th Century Studios recently revealed a third trailer, featuring stars Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney, and Guy Pearce.
An adaptation of Peter Heller’s post-apocalyptic novel, Elordi sees the actor playing the role of widowed pilot Hig, who is one of the few survivors in a world devastated by a global pandemic.
High has a solitary existence in the airplane hangar, sharing it with only his dog and a gruff gunman. Suddenly interrupted by a mysterious transmission intercepted on his Cessna radio, his peaceful life launches him on a quest to uncover the source.
Brolin portrays Bangley, an expert with a firearm who isn’t inclined towards chats or disclosing about his background. Qualley is Cima, who spends her time tending to her farm for survival and protecting herself against invaders.
The screenplay for Scott’s direction was written by Mark L. Smith (“Twisters,” “The Revenant“), and the budget was over $100 million.
“The Dog Stars” is set to open in cinemas on August 28th.
