Judge Judy is retiring from on-camera work after a thirty-year run adjudicating small-claims cases on television. Now 83, the TV personality announces her intention to step back from active work but plans to remain involved in the industry from behind the scenes.

As PEOPLE reported, Judith Sheindlin, known simply as Judge Judy, will conclude her on-screen career following the conclusion of the “Judy Justice” series on Prime Video in October. In discussing her plans, she remarked, “I have numerous other pursuits that are intriguing.” The attorney, it was reported, enumerated new focuses such as afternoon naps, time with the family, and the creation of Judyverse, an adult animated series based on viral AI-generated Baby Judge Judy videos. “I don’t want to do hair and makeup anymore, but I still want my message to get out there,” the 83-year-old.”

Despite her retirement from on-screen work, she is currently preparing to host another syndicated court show, which she leads by her own son, Adam Levy. Sheindlin is crafting “Adam’s Law“, a fresh syndicated courtroom series featuring Adam Levy, set to premiere on September 14.

Levy gained significant television experience through his three-season co-starring role on Prime Video’s panel series Tribunal Justice. The 58-year-old has likewise dedicated years to the legal profession, holding two terms as district attorney for Putnam County, New York. Sheindlin thinks that their background has prepared them to take the helm of their own production.
