Netflix has introduced the full-length trailer for “Steps,” an animated feature that draws inspiration from the well-known fairy tale Cinderella.

Garfunkel and Oates, the creative duo of Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci, conceived the plot for a movie that reinterprets Cinderella from the viewpoint of Cinderella’s hidden stepsister, Lilith.

When she inadvertently turns her sorrel sister, Margot, into a frog and disrupts the kingdom with an unpleasant leader, the two must collaborate with a troll to rescue their realm, demonstrating that so-called adversaries can also have a happy ending too.

The film stars Ali Wong as Lilith, Amanda Seyfried as Cinderella, Stephanie Hsu as Margot, Bette Midler as The Fairy Godmother, Nikki Glaser as Priscilla, Young Mazino as Gef, along with Daniel Radcliffe, LaNisa Renee Frederick, Jordyn Weitz and Peter Dinklage.

“Steps” is directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa and produced by Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell, and Kim Lessing. The in-house offices of Netflix Animation Studios in Los Angeles, Sydney, and Vancouver were responsible for the animation. Kris Bowers has been confirmed to be handling the screenplay for the film that will premiere on Netflix exclusively on November 20th.
