Exclusive Video Interview: Alan Ruck on Playing Walgreens Executive Jay Rosan in ‘The Dropout’

Check out more of our video interviews on our YouTube Channel.

Hulu’s new limited series The Dropout dramatizes an incredible real-life scandal, one that saw young entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes (Amanda Seyfried) pitch a revolutionary new technology that could run hundreds of tests from just one drop of blood. The problem was that it didn’t work, which didn’t stop Elizabeth and her partner Sunny Balwani (Naveen Andrews) from pushing forward to implement it.

Among the extremely talented ensemble is actor Alan Ruck, whose career began with roles in films like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Speed, and who can currently be seen as eldest son Connor Roy on HBO’s Succession. Ruck plays Jay Rosan, an excitable executive at Walgreens who believes strongly in what Elizabeth is selling.

I had the chance to speak with Ruck about his take on why so many powerful people were entranced by the promise of Theranos and how quickly Connor would invest in the company if he could.

You can watch the video above, and read below for an official summary and where to watch.

Series summary: Money. Romance. Tragedy. Deception. Hulu’s limited series “The Dropout,” the story of Elizabeth Holmes (Amanda Seyfried) and Theranos, is an unbelievable tale of ambition and fame gone terribly wrong. How did the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire lose it all in the blink of an eye?
