Fostering and nurturing a sense of trust in any tight-knit community is an integral part to making every member feel welcome and celebrated. That’s certainly the case for the customers and employees of the celebrated cannabis dispensary, MMD. The camaraderie within the store, which features California’s largest selection of cannabis at affordable prices, is chronicled on the new reality television show, High Hopes.

MMD was founded in 2006, when it opened its first medical dispensary in North Hollywood. The company has been at the forefront advocating for safe and legal access to cannabis ever since. High Hopes highlights how the dispensary’s staff and customers are proud to have been part of the first wave of legal cannabis in California. The initial trust the store instilled between its customers and employees upon its initial opening still remains intact today.

MMD is run by Belarus-born brothers Slava and Mishka Ashbel. The store’s employees who are featured on the series include Sumaiya Islam, Dani Martin, Jared Brady, Morgan Chanel Lee, Freddie Miller and Uriel Valenzuela.

High Hopes is produced by Kimmelot and ITV Aamera. Its executive producers include Jimmy Kimmel, Scott Lonker, Tim Cohen-Laurie, Karl Hollandt and Ben Steinbauer, the latter of whom whom also serves as the project’s showrunner.

Martin, Brady and Lee; Slava, Mishka and Islam; and Miller and Valenzuela generously took the time recently to talk about starring on High Hopes during exclusive group interviews over Zoom. You can watch the videos here, and read below for an official summary and where to watch the workplace reality series’ first season.

High Hopes follows Slava and Mishka and their stoned crew through the trials and tribulations of taking their cannabis business to new heights. As one of the oldest cannabis dispensaries in Hollywood, MMD attracts a wild mix of weed-loving customers and is a home away from home for their OG employees who work hard and smoke harder!

This season builds to their biggest day of the year – 4/20 – as the gang attempts to expand nationwide and release their own top-shelf cannabis brand. Will they find what they’re looking for, or will their hopes go up in smoke?

High Hopes‘ first season premieres on Hulu on April 20, 2024.
