According to the movie’s synopsis, “The film follows Kate Garrett, a woman reeling from a personal tragedy who spends her days boarding and training horses on the secluded and picturesque Echo Valley Farm. Late one night, her wayward daughter Claire arrives at her doorstep, frightened, trembling, and covered in someone else’s blood.

Production is expected to begin this summer. It will be the third collaboration for Walsh and Ingelsby, who had previously worked together on American Woman and Our Friend. And it will be the fourth time Ingelsby will have worked with Scott Free, after Out of the Furnace, American Woman, and Our Friend.

Mare of Easttown was a critical and commercial success than netted four Emmy awards out of 16 nominations. It will be the latest in a list of original films at Apple, a slate that includes the soon-to-be released Killer of the Flower Moon involving Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. Also on the list are The Instigators and Napoleon.

Moore most recently appeared in Jesse Eisenberg’s feature directorial debut When You Finish Saving the World. She will also soon appear in Sharper, a psychological thriller with Sebastian Stan, and in Todd Haynes’s May December with Natalie Portman. Sweeney was copiously praised for her breakout role in Euphoria, the HBO teenaged drama, earning an Emmy nomination. She is slated to appear in Sony’s Madame Web, in the Spider-Man universe.
