Beanie Feldstein Cast in Ethan Coen’s Untitled Solo Directorial Debut Film at Working Title and Focus Features

Beanie Feldstein has been cast alongside Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan in Ethan Coen’s untitled movie at Working Title and Focus Features, Deadline is reporting. No plot or character details have been released yet for the upcoming film, which the Oscar-winning filmmaker co-wrote with his wife, Tricia Cooke.

Coen is making his solo narrative feature film directorial debut with the project. The filmmaker is helming the movie on his own, after he directed such acclaimed movies as No Country for Old Men and the 2010 True Grit remake with his brother, Joel. The duo has been making films together for almost four decades, since the release of their 1984 neo-noir crime drama, Blood Simple.

Ethan Coen and Cooke are also producing the upcoming untitled movie with Robert Graf and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. The film is expected to begin shooting this fall.

Feldstein’s casting in the film comes after she received acclaim for her portrayal of Monica Lewinsky in FX’s Emmy Award-nominated limited drama series, American Crime Story: Impeachment. She currently leads the cast of Apple TV+’s animated series, Harriet the Spy.

The actress’ most notable movie credits include Booksmart, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Actress – Musical or Comedy category, and Ladybird. She most recently appeared on screen in the ensemble psychological drama, The Humanswhich premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival.

Feldstein was also recently cast in writer-director Richard Linklater’s coming-of-age musical comedy, Merrily We Roll Along, which will also star Ben Platt and Blake Jenner. The movie, which is based on Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s 1981 musical of the same name, will follow a Broadway composer who abandons his New York theater career to produce a movie in Los Angeles.
