Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead Marry in Small Ceremony with Family and Close Friends in Attendance

Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead married each other in a small ceremony over the weekend, with only their families and close friends in attendance. The couple’s intimate wedding comes after they began dating in 2017, and welcomed their son Laurie in June 2021, People is reporting.

People also reported: “They had an outdoor ceremony. It was lovely and joyful. The menu was farm-to-table…They are pretty low-key and like their canyon life. They often hike and go to the beach.”

This is the second marriage for both McGregor and Winstead. In May 2017, the actress split from her first husband, Dual filmmaker Riley Stearns, after seven years of marriage. Then in January 2018, the Emmy Award-winning McGregor filed for divorce from his first wife, Eve Mavrakis, with whom he has four children, after 22 years of marriage. Their divorce became finalized in the summer of 2020.

Winstead spoke to Glamour U.K. in 2020 about starting over after her first marriage ended. “I got divorced a couple of years ago, which was a scary, crazy thing for me because I had been with the same person since I was 18 years old, and that was what I knew,” she revealed.

The SAG Award-nominated actress continued, “I was really starting new as an adult for the first time in my life. For me that was a big turning point, being okay with changing, accepting that change is a good thing and that it’s okay not to know where that change is going to take you.”

Besides Fargo and Birds of Prey, McGregor is best known for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars universe, a role he is expected to reprise in the upcoming Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. His filmography also includes Trainspotting, Big Fish, Dr. Sleep and Moulin Rouge.

Winstead, meanwhile has starred in such movies as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 10 Cloverfield Lane and Live Free or Die Hard. She’s also expected to join the Star Wars universe in an unknown role in the Star Wars: Ahsoka Disney+ series.
