Jennifer Lawrence and Husband Cooke Maroney Expecting First Child

Jennifer Lawrence is pregnant and expecting her first child with her husband of nearly two years, Cooke Maroney. The 31-year-old Oscar winning actress’ rep confirmed the news exclusively to PEOPLE yesterday.

The announcement of Lawrence’s pregnancy came after she began dating Maroney, who’s an art gallery director, in June 2018. The performer and the 37-year-old owner of the Manhattan-based gallery, Gladstone 64, became engaged the following February.

The couple later married in a lavish ceremony at Belcourt of Newport, a luxurious mansion in Rhode Island, on October 19, 2019. They held a wedding reception for 150 guests, including such celebrity friends as Adele, Amy Schumer, Kris Jenner and Emma Stone.

In June 2019, just months before their wedding, Lawrence called Maroney “the greatest human being I’ve ever met” while she appeared speaking on entertainment journalist Catt Sadler’s podcast, Naked with Catt Sadler. “He really is, and he gets better…I feel very honored to become a Maroney,” the actress added.

Lawrence, who rose to fame by playing protagonist Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games film adaptions between 2012-2015, has kept her relationship with Maroney relatively private since they began dating. However, the parents-to-be have been photographed together around Manhattan, where they reside, throughout their marriage.

The movie star won her Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in the 2012 romantic comedy-drama, Silver Linings Playbook. She was also nominated for the accolade for her performances in Joy and her breakout role, Winter’s Bone. Lawrence was also nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in American Hustle. Lawrence has also starred in four X-Men films over the past decade.
