Anna Sawai, who recently won an Emmy for her work in “Shōgun“, will be joining the cast of “Enemies” with Austin Butler and Jeremy Allen White, as well as Hidetoshi Nishijima, who played a leading role in the Oscar-winning film “Drive My Car“.
A $25M production is being shot in Chicago this summer, where a relentless detective and an infamous contract killer engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse. A24 and Quare Peg are working together to produce. Alejandro De Leon will be producing as well. Josh Bachove holds the position of executive producer.
Sawai is currently working on “(Saint) Peter“, a comedy that was produced by Peter Farrelly and just wrapped production on the second season of Apple TV+’s “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters“. She can also be seen in Seasons 1 and 2 of the Apple TV+ adaptation of “Pachinko“, Justin Lin’s “F9“, the ninth installment of Universal’s The Fast and the Furious franchise, the Netflix/BBC series “Giri/Haji“, and James McTeigue’s “Ninja Assassin” for Warner Bros. During this summer, she is going to David Leitch for “How to Rob a Bank.”
Nishijima starred in the Academy Award-winning 2021 Japanese feature film, “Drive My Car.” Hidetoshi’s impressive career in Japan has stretched from an epic production such as “Shin Ultraman” to small indie from Takeshi Kitano such as “Dolls.” Hidetoshi made history in 2017 by modeling for Giorgio Armani’s Made-to-Measure collection, becoming the first Japanese man to do so.
Nishijima is repped by CAA, Artist International Group and Greenberg Traurig, and Sawai is repped by WME, 42, United Agents and Chris Abramson.
