Get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning‘s underwater scenes were filmed by Tom Cruise and film crew members. The upcoming film stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Tramell Tillman and Angela Bassett, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, Mark Gatiss, and Lucy Tulugarjuk.

Cruise shared the latest look at The Final Reckoning on Instagram before its release, highlighting that the underwater sequence in the movie is the culmination of decades’ worth of experience. The trailers for “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” have promised several mind-boggling stunts in the movie, including one that involves the Sevastopol submarine. The video hints at Hunt’s access to The Entity’s spherical housing aboard the sunken Russian sub, which he describes as an underwater sequence unlike any other.

“From Legend in 1985 to Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, I have been studying and filming underwater sequences for over 40 years. We have always tried to push our filmmaking to the next level, and in this movie McQ and I saw an opportunity to create an underwater sequence unlike any other. We are excited to share it with you.”

The film opens in theaters on May 23, 2025.
