Netflix has released the trailer for “Marty, Life is Short“, a documentary that spotlights Martin Short, a Canadian national treasure.

Lawrence Kasdan, the renowned filmmaker behind “Body Heat” and “The Big Chill“, is directing the project, which blends intimate archive footage with exclusive interviews with some of the most established and beloved stars.

The film focuses on a comedian who has been influential throughout history. The 76-year-old star of “Only Murders in the Building” has earned two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Actor Awards, and a Tony Award.

The group of celebrities who are gathered include Steve Martin, Eugene Levy, John Mulaney, Tom Hanks, and the late Catherine O’Hara, as well as Short’s alter ego, Jiminy Glick, who declares ‘they are documenting everything’.

Short’s tragic childhood is also depicted in the movie, where his older brother died when Martin was 12, and his parents died within two years of each other shortly after. His wife’s death in 2010 was at the age of 58, and his daughter Katherine’s suicide occurred earlier this year.

The film is produced by Sara Bernstein, Meredith Kaulfers, Christopher St. John, Justin Wilkes and Blair Foster and executive produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.

Marty, Life is Short” releases on Netflix on May 12th.
