Tokyo Vice Season 2 | Starring Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe

Max has dropped a new trailer for Season 2 of “Tokyo Vice ,” which was created and written by Tony Award winner J.T. Rogers, the critically acclaimed original drama series returns THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8 on Max. The ten-episode second season debuts with two episodes followed by one new episode weekly for eight weeks.

The series’ synopsis reads, “Loosely inspired by American journalist Jake Adelstein’s first-hand account of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police beat, Season 2 of the series, filmed on location in Tokyo, takes us deeper into the city’s criminal underworld, as Adelstein (Ansel Elgort) comes to realize that his life, and the lives of those close to him, are in terrible danger.”

The trailer shows the “West Side Story” star loves to engage “unpredictability” of being a journalist abroad covering organized crime, even though the dangers of covering the Tokyo Metropolitan Police incidents gets him more deeper into the city’s criminal underworld.

In addition to Elgort, “Tokyo Vice” stars Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Keller, Show Kasamatsu, Ayumi Ito, and new series regulars Yosuke Kubozuka and Miki Maya.

Watanabe stars as Hiroto Katagiri, a detective investigating organized crime who works closely with Jake. Kellers plays an American expat named Samantha who works as a hostess at a Tokyo club.

Rogers and Alan Poul executive produce with Alex Boden, Josef Kubota Wladyka, Brad Caleb Kane, Adam Stein, Ken Watanabe, Emily Gerson Saines, Ansel Elgort, Jake Adelstein, Kayo Washio, Destin Daniel Cretton, John Lesher and Michael Mann.

Season 1 of “Tokyo Vice” premiered on Max on April 7, 2022 and was met with mostly positive reviews.

Rogers is known as a playwright and has penned plays including “Oslo” and “Blood and Gifts.” Elgort most recently starred as Tony in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 adaptation of “West Side Story” opposite Rachel Zegler’s Maria.
