LAIKA has Dropped a teaser trailer for a highly anticipated animated film, “Wildwood,” the project marks the company’s sixth feature and is helmed by Travis Knight (“Kubo and the Two Strings”) from a script by Chris Butler (“ParaNorman,” “Missing Link”), based on the novel by Colin Meloy.

In the story that takes place in Portland, Prue McKeel and her best friend Curtis explore a hidden and enchanted forest that was cultivated by early settlers and is now known as the wilderness that cannot be traversed.

The woods aim to keep people from the insiders, including her infant brother Mac, who was murdered by a crow, and a mysterious woman named Alexandra who is buried in the forest’s depths.

Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amanda Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits and Richard E. Grant lend their voices to the project.

“Wildwood” is set for release in cinemas on October 23rd.
