“Every survivor is a target.” Capelight Pictures has dropped a new official US trailer for Project Silence, the South Korean survival thriller that is set to premiere in the United States, has released its official trailer, which stars Lee Sun-Kyun from Parasite, Ju Ji-Hoon from the Kingdom, and Kim Su-an from Train to Busan.
In the trailer, we see the film’s action-packed sequences where a group of survivors struggle to escape a failing bridge while also avoiding lethal military experiments that could kill them. It also offers a glimpse of one of Lee’s last performances after his tragic death in 2020.
After being charged with drugs, the 48-year-old actor was found dead in his car from carbon monoxide poisoning. He gained international acclaim for his role in Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning movie Parasite before his demise.
“Due to sudden deteriorating weather conditions, visibility on the Airport Bridge is severely impaired, leaving people stranded and at risk of the bridge collapsing due to a series of chain collisions and explosions,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
“Amidst the chaos, the canine subjects ‘Echo’ from the military experiment ‘Project Silence,’ who were being transported in secret, break free, and all human survivors become targets of relentless attacks. Various individuals find themselves stranded on the Airport Bridge for different reasons — a government official from the presidential office, who was seeing off his daughter (KIM Su An) at the airport; a tow truck driver, who was on his way to a multi-collision scene; an elderly couple, who were returning from a trip abroad; sisters, who missed their flights, and Dr. Yang the researcher responsible for Project Silence — and a desperate struggle begins for them to escape to safety.”
Project Silence is directed by Tae-gon Kim, who co-wrote the movie with Yong-hwa Kim and Joo-Suk Park. Beside Lee Sun-Kyun, the film also stars Kim Hee-won, Moon Sung-Keun, Ye Soo-jung, Kim Tae-woo, Park Ju-hyun, Park Hee-bon as Miran and more. It is produced by Yong-hwa Kim.
It will open in Korean cinemas on the same date as the US release this summer. Capelight Pictures will release Project Silence in select US theaters starting on July 12th, 2024, coming soon.
