The Strangers are back, and are more brutal and relentless than ever. The Man in the Mask, Dollface and Pin-Up Girl are hatching up even more terror and tension in the traumatic hunt of their latest victim, Maya Lucas, in the upcoming film, The Strangers – Chapter 2.
The new horror movie serves as the sequel to last year’s hit reboot, The Strangers – Chapter 1. Genre veteran Renny Harlin, who directed the first film, returned to the series to helm the follow-up. Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, who penned the initial entry, also returned to the franchise to scrie the script for the second entry.
The Strangers – Chapter 2 opens minutes after the end of predecessor, with Maya (Madelaine Petsch) in the hospital. She’s the sole survivor of the titular characters’ murdering spree from the previous night.
Venus, Oregon Sheriff Rotter (Richard Brake) and Deputy Walters (Pedro Leandro), inform the customers in Carol’s Diner that Maya survived the latest random killing in their remote town. With the news spreading, the killers learn of Maya’s survival. So they visit the hospital to finish their mission.
As a result, Maya must do everything in her power to survive the continued attacks that left her fiancé, Ryan (Froy Gutierrez), dead in the previous installment. At the same time, she must also reckon with the ways that these events are transforming her into someone else.
Lionsgate will release The Strangers – Chapter 2 in theaters this Friday, September 26, 2025. To help promote the drama’s distribution, Harlin generously took the time recently to talk about helming in the project during an exclusive interview over Zoom.
