It’s been confirmed that the sequel to Toho’s Godzilla Minus One will be titled “Godzilla Minus Zero“.

At Godzilla Fest in Japan, the title was announced, and Takashi Yamazaki, who wrote/directed the original movie and is an expert in VFX, will be returning in the same capacities. Shirogumi, Yamazaki’s company which handled the first film’s Oscar-winning visual effects, are tackling the visual effect again for this film.

Koji Ueda, the president of Toho International, previously expressed his desire to have the film released in 2026.

The highly acclaimed “Godzilla Minus One,” the second of the live-action Reiwa era movies after 2016’s “Shin Godzilla,” took place in devastated post-war Japan as the country is hit by a new wave of devastation unleashed by Godzilla.

It grossed $116 million from a $15 million budget, was the highest-grossing live-action film to debut in Japan during 2023, and became the third highest-grossing non-English-language film in the U.S. market.

The film also received the stellar review scores with a 99% (8.5/10) on Rotten Tomatoes from over 200 critics and a 98% from audiences.
