Netflix’s ‘The Boyfriend’ Season 2 Unveils Heartwarming Trailer, Key Art, and Participants’ Profiles

Netflix unveiled the trailer, key art, and cast profiles for the highly anticipated second season of The Boyfriend, Japan’s first gay romance reality series and a global fan favorite. Returning this winter, the new season marks the next chapter of the heartfelt story of love and friendship that resonated deeply with viewers worldwide.

Following its breakout success, The Boyfriend continues to expand its reach as a uniquely warm and emotionally honest unscripted series from Japan. Season 2 moves the setting to Hokkaido, where the iconic Green Room transforms into a snowy retreat. Across two months, ten men will live together amid breathtaking winter landscapes, operating their peppermint-colored coffee truck as they share everyday moments, build connections, and navigate the unfolding stories that emerge from communal living.

The newly released main trailer offers a first glimpse of the men settling into life together in Hokkaido before teasing a shocking reunion, a blossoming first romance, cozy nights in the familiar living room, and moving scenes of shared tears — snapshots of the unforgettable experiences awaiting them. Viewers also see the studio hosts reacting in real time to surprising turns, inviting the audience to anticipate which moments will define the season.

Netflix also revealed profiles for this season’s participants. This year’s diverse cast ranges in age from 20 to 40 and includes members from outside Japan — including Thailand and Peru:

Season 2 also features new music by Korean indie rock band Glen Check, who return after composing the Season 1 track “Dazed & Confused.” Their new song, “Bloom,” captures the emotional journeys of the participants as they move through a transformative winter toward a radiant spring.An unforgettable winter is about to begin. The Boyfriend Season 2 premieres January 13, only on Netflix.
