The new 007 is the subject of constant speculation since it was announced that Amazon had obtained the creative rights to the James Bond franchise. Who is rumored to have the lead role in playing the new James Bond?

In the latest episode of The Rest is Entertainment podcast, Guardian reporter Marina Hyde reveals that Jacob Elordi (Euphoria) appears to have a great deal of advantage in playing Bond.

“I have to say — just the mere fact of me saying this means it won’t happen — but I’ve heard from a number of people that Jacob Elordi has kind of moved into pole position,” said Hyde. “Nobody has signed anything yet, which is interesting because Callum Turner is way out ahead, ” she added.

Although it’s not confirmed that Elordi is the new Bond, it adds more credence to the theory that he’ll eventually be cast as the iconic spy.　The casting, plot details, and release date for Amazon have yet to be officially announced.

Elordi is known for his role as Nate Jacobs in Euphoria, but he was recently honored with an Academy Award nomination for his role as “Frankenstein“‘s monster in Guillermo del Toro’s 2025 film. Courtenay Valenti, the film director for Amazon MGM Studios, previously stated that the company will take its time to identify the right actor for the role.

The James Bond movie that will be produced in the future will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Steven Knight. The project will be started by Villeneuve after the release of “Dune Part 3” this year.
