Sony Pictures released the trailer for the upcoming film “Klara and the Sun,” directed by Oscar-winning Taika Waititi, which is based on the 2021 novel by Nobel Prize-winner Kazuo Ishiguro (“The Remains of the Day”).

The story follows Klara (Jenna Ortega), a Artificial Friend whose sole desire is to find the best home. Josie (Mia Tharia) caught Klara’s eye, and Klara immediately felt a connection with her.

Josie has a troubled relationship with her mother (Amy Adams) and they’ve experienced significant loss, but Klara’s pure wonder and steadfast loyalty start to mend the family and illuminate Josie’s intricate world.

Amy Adams, Aran Murphy, Steve Buscami, and Natasha Lyonne are also part of the cast. Dahvi Waller and Waititi wrote the adaptation together.

David Heyman, Garrett Basch, and Waititi are producing the film, which has received a PG-13 rating for thematic elements, violence, and strong language.

“Klara and the Sun” opens exclusively in cinemas on October 23rd.
