At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, the performance of “Paper Tiger,” starring Adam Driver, Miles Teller, and Scarlett Johansson, captivated audiences. Now, a new trailer has been released for the movie, which is also set to open at the New York Film Festival this fall.

The film follows Driver and Teller, portrayed as siblings, as they are caught up with the Russian mafia in 1980s New York City.

Johansson assumes the role of Teller’s spouse, part of a part previously assigned to Anne Hathaway (had this come to pass, it might have been one too many Anne Hathaway films for 2026).

“Paper Tiger” was premiered at Cannes, where it competed for the Palme d’Or and later garnered a standing ovation of ten minutes following its premiere, as reported.

Steve Pond from Wrap said : “A taut exercise in suspense, with a couple of bravura sequences that stretch the tension to the breaking point as hubris and wishful thinking lead a family into dangers they didn’t know existed – but it’s also a warmhearted study of family members who can argue and be wildly at odds, but who almost always walk away from each other with the parting words, I love you.”

The film represents Gray’s return to features after “Armageddon Time,” an overlooked autobiographical entry from 2022, contrasts sharply with his 2019 space saga “Ad Astra,” starring Pitt and Lee Jones, which was edited without his consent, changing its direction, a move he found unsatisfactory.

Gray is one of the most vibrant American filmmakers of our time, with a portfolio that ranges from the deeply personal drama “Two Lovers” to expansive historical adventures such as “The Immigrant” and “The Lost City of Z.” Each new project of his turns out to be a significant event

Neon will release “Paper Tiger” on Nov. 13.
