StudioCanal debuted the teaser trailer for filmmaker Danny Boyle‘s upcoming film “Ink,” which is slated for UK cinema release in January. Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce, and Claire Foy star in this film, which originates from the Tony-winning stage play penned by James Graham (“Dear England”), to whom the screenplay was also assigned.

Set in 1969, this film chronicles the tale of how Australian media magnate Rupert Murdoch (Pearce) and tabloid editor Larry Lamb (O’Connell) created The Sun newspaper. The acquisition would ignite a fierce rivalry between The Sun and The Mirror, ultimately leading to the emergence of modern British tabloids and the proliferation of media, such as Fox News and clickbait on social platforms.

Boyle is responsible for directing and producing with Tessa Ross, Tracey Seaward, and Michael Ellenberg.

StudioCanal will release the film theatrically in the UK, much of Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and then on Netflix in the U.S. and elsewhere.

The title will serve as the opening feature at the Venice Film Festival tonight.
