Bidding Wars Erupt Over Proposed Pitt-Kosinski  Film On Racecars

Hollywood has started the engines! The high-octane bidding wars are on track for a new as-yet-untitled film about the fast-paced world of the race-car circuit. Starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, the proposed production has already attracted the attention of traditional studios like MGM, Paramount, Sony, and Universal, and streaming service like Amazon, Apple, and Netflix.

Details about the project are still in low gear, but it’s being rumored that top-honcho producer Jerry Bruckheimer is involved, as well as screenwriter Ehren Kruger and British racing star Lewis Hamilton.

This isn’t the first time that Pitt and Kosinski’s names have been attached to a movie about the world of high-speed racing. Nearly a decade ago, there was Go Like Hell, which eventually took on a different cast (Matt Damon and Christian Bale) and director (James Mangold) to become the acclaimed 2019 release Ford v. Ferrari.

Hollywood has always maintained a fascination for cars speeding down the tracks, with the sport having visual appeal, high stakes drama and both hot-headed and cold-blooded personalities. The sport attracts Hollywood players as well, perhaps best embodied by Steve McQueen’s life style.
