Is There Life After Sexual Misconduct? Kevin Spacey To Make Cameo Comeback In Italian Indie

Four years after his career was derailed by a slew of allegations charging him with sexual assault and misconduct, actor Kevin Spacey is about to make a comeback of sorts. He will be playing a cameo role as a police detective in Franco Nero’s L’uomo Che Disegno Dio. The low-budget independent film will star Nero himself, with his wife, Vanessa Redgrave, playing a minor role, according to an ABC News report confirmed this week by Variety.

Nero told ABC News that “I’m very happy Kevin agreed to participate in my film. I consider him a great actor and I can’t wait to start the film.

Over the past four years, the 61-year-old Spacey has been accused in both the US and UK of sexual crimes involving young men, some of them juveniles, at least one of them dating back to the 1980s. That particular case was dismissed when a judge deemed that the accuser was prohibited from pursuing an anonymous lawsuit.

In 2018, the actor pleaded not guilty to having assaulted a teenaged boy on Nantucket, but the charges were dismissed when the alleged victim withdrew his lawsuit. The string of accusations against Spacey had begun the year before, when 20 young men reported Spacey had engaged in sexual misconduct with them in his role as artistic director of London’s Old Vic.

In the wake of these accusations, Spacey was yanked from his starring role in Netflix’s House of Cards. Hi only film role afterwards was in James Cox’s Billionaire Boys Club, considered a box-office flop. L’uomo Che Diseano Dio narrates the story of a blind portrait painter who creates his artworks by listening to his models’ voices.

Spacey’s estranged brother Randy has said that the actor, as a child, suffered from sexual and physical abuse at the hand of their father, whom Randy described as a racist and Nazi supporter.
