Megan Thee Stallion Reportedly Will Star in Upcoming Josh and Benny Safdie Film

Megan Thee Stallion is reportedly the star choice for Josh and Benny Safdie’s upcoming film, says Deadline. If the reports are accurate, Stallion would be cast in the lead female role, opposite Adam Sandler.

Though few details about the Safdie brothers’ upcoming project are available, it will be released by Netflix, with filming expected to begin later this year from a script the Safdies have co-written. It has been reported that the plot concerns the world of sports-card collecting.

Stallion has recently appeared in shows such as Good Girls, P-Valley, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. She will soon be debuting in her first feature film, F-king Identical Twins by A24, co-starring alongside Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, and Bowen Yang.

Megan Thee Stallion has also earned her niche in the music world: her songs “Savage” and “WAP” were number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in the United States. At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, she was recognized as the second female rapper to ever win the Best New Artist award. She was also listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the 2020 Time 100 compilation. Stallion, the winner of three Grammy Awards, has released several studio albums including Good News and Traumazine, as well as the EP’s Make It Hot, Tina Snow, and Suga.

Adam Sandler was acclaimed for a 2019 film by the Safdies, Uncut Gems, which won the actor a best-male-lead slot in the Film Independent Spirit awards competition. He had originally made his mark in the world of comedy, having joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1990. Besides Uncut Gems, his other films have included Coneheads, Airheads, Billy Madison, Bulletproof, Happy Gilmore, and The Waterboy, all released in the 1990s. His first Disney film was Bedtime Stories, a children’s fantasy film that debuted in 2008. Sandler’s first Netflix film, The Ridiculous 6, was a spoof on Westerns that was released in 2016. The comedian also produced and starred in Hustle, a sports drama he made in 2022.
