Paramount Pictures Announces That ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ Release Date is to be Delayed

“A Quiet Place: Day One,” directed by Michael Sarnoski, has had its release date of March 8, 2024 pushed back to June 28, 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This delay pushes the release date by over three months.

Though, it gives this film a bigger release date as it becomes a summer release.

The new release date was the former release date of “Mission Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part Two,” as that was also pushed back by almost a full year to May 23, 2025. This move gives them more time to finish production on the Tom Cruise movie once  the SAG-AFTRA strike comes to an end.

“A Quiet Place: Day One” is the prequel/spin off movie to Krasinski’sA Quiet Place.”  The story is set to take place in New York City when the alien invasion happens. Making it quite hard for the population to know about how the aliens use of noise to hunt and be able to hide from them in the process. This idea makes this prequel take a turn, 180 degrees if you will, in a different direction than the A Quiet Place” and A Quiet Place: Part II” that take place in a rural setting.

“A Quiet Place” and A Quiet Place: Part II,” both directed by John Krasinski, is a science fiction horror film starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. They play the Abbotts’ and try to survive in a post-apocalyptic world with their children after an alien species invades Earth. This species wipes out most of the human population with their ability to hunt by using sound.

Thus leading these movies to have very little dialogue than one would expect in blockbuster hits such as these.

The original stars Krasinski and Blunt will not be in this new prequel but Krasinski is a producer for it.

The new film stars Lupita Nyong’o, from the Black Panther”movies, Joseph Quinn, from “Stranger Things,” and star of “Hereditary” Alex Wolff. “A Quiet Place: Day One” was originally supposed to be directed by Mud” director Jeff Nichols, but in October of 2021 he departed from the project. So, Micheal Sarnoski was brought on to direct after the success of his film “Pig.”

Only time will tell the origins of the alien invasion that destroyed mankind from the first two films but more importantly if this film will live up to its predecessors.

Though it looks like the wait did get a bit longer to find out these answers.
