The Devil Wears Prada 2” is now in production, as announced by 20th Century Studios on Monday. Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci will all reprise their roles for the sequel to the 2006 flick, and Kenneth Branagh is expected to portray Miranda Priestly’s husband.

20th Century Studios has revealed their fully CG concept teaser to announce that they have entered production for the sequel, which is set to be released on May 1st, 2026.

The original 2006 film is based on the 2004 roman à clef novel by Lauren Weisberger, an assitant to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The story revolved around Andy Sachs (Hathaway) , an ambitious journalist who is hired at a glamorous fashion magazine but finds herself under the sway of her demanding editor-in-chief Miranda Presley.

Priestly’s career will be followed in the sequel as she struggles to survive in the era of declining traditional magazine publishing. Blunt will carry on her duties as Miranda’s former assistant, now working as a high-powered executive for a luxury group that Priestly needs.

David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna, who directed and wrote the original film, are returning for the sequel. Producer Karen Rosenfelt also returns. “The Devil Wears Prada” earned $326 million at the global box office and earned Streep a Best Actress Oscar nomination.

Anna Wintour announced her decision to step down as American Vogue’s editor-in-chief last week, which was particularly timely news.
