Netflix’s upcoming highly anticipated “One Piece” series has been making an extra effort to bring the one of the most beloved manga to life, just to prove that, co-showrunners Matt Owens and Steven Maeda and actor Iñaki Godoy joined this year’s Netflix Geeked Week to hype up their new show and give fans around the world a new look at what they’ve been cooking up on their set. The streamer offered the first look at the show’s sets on Monday during its Geeked Week presentation.
In this video, to create the world of Eiichiro Oda’s world, the team felt it was necessary that many of the show’s ship settings be literally built from the ground up. It’s devastating to see it from concept arts to actual ships.
“Because of the level of detail and attention that goes into all of these sets, they take a good amount of time,” Owens said.
“Right now we’re building Arlong’s map room and it’s already been a couple of weeks, but it’s a big build because it’s a really important location.”
And six actors will join this new series, Langley Kirkwood, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward and Chioma Umeala. Kirkwood will play Captain Morgan, Loots will appear as Kaya, Maniatis will portray Klahadore, Fairbass joins as Chef Zeff, Ward takes on Mihawk and Umeala will appear as Nojiko.
One Piece follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy, an aspiring pirate captain who wants to travel the dangerous Grand Line in search of a mythical treasure called One Piece. But to find the treasure, Luffy must first assemble the best pirate crew he can. Shortly after his journey begins, Luffy’s crew includes, Nami (Emily Rudd), Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Sanji (Taz Skyler), and Usopp (Jacob Gibson). The series will also feature Peter Gadiot as Shanks.
