From the 2023 European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin comes news that Keke Palmer and Sacha Baron Cohen will be starring in Super Toys, a new film being written and directed by David O. Russell.

According to reports first published in Deadline, the acting duo will portray a pair of “groovy ’70s toy sales reps on a life-and-death mission to save themselves, their marriage and their live-wire 12-year-old daughter while on the road in Middle America.”

Keke Palmer’s recent portrayal of Emerald Haywood in Jordan Peele’s Nope won her a best supporting actress prize by the New York Film Critics Circle. She was also acclaimed for her participation in three other 2022 films: Alice, Lightyear, and Jennifer Lopez: Halftime. The prolific performer also recently launched Key TV, a digital network designed to showcase a new generation of creative talent. She’s also the host of the NBC game show Password, a role originated by Allen Ludden in the 1960s.

Sacha Baron Cohen has amassed three Oscar nominations over the years, including two in 2021 alone, for The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. He also voiced the character of Uncle Ugo in Pixar’s Luca and will be narrating the animated special Chelm: The Smartest Place on Earth. The British actor is acclaimed for his creation of a raft of satirical characters that include Borat Sagdiyev, Bruno Gehard, and Admiral General Aladeen.

He received the Outstanding Achievement prize at the 2012 British Comedy Awards.



Director David O. Russell earned accolades for The Fighter (2010), Silver Linings Playbook (2012) and the dark-comedy crime film American Hustle (2013). He has received several Oscar nominations for best director, best adapted screenplay, and best original screenplay. A community activist in his early years, Russell also worked in a Nicaraguan literacy program and created a documentary about Panamanian immigrants in Boston.
