It appears Sacha Baron Cohen has completed filming on a new feature film featuring his well-known character Ali G, the interviewer. The Insneider initially broke this story, then a several media followed up the story including Deadline and Empire. They mentioned that the film was shot secretly and will probably be available next year.
It indicates a span of about 25 years since the 2002 comedy film “Ali G Indahouse,” which starred Martin Freeman, Charles Dance, Michael Gambon, and Rhona Mitra. The Ali G persona first graced Channel 4’s “The 11 O’Clock Show” before transforming into the central character of “Da Ali G Show” during the early 2000s.
Cohen continued by creating films that included two of his previous character creations – “Borat” in 2006 (and once more in 2020) and “Bruno” in 2009. A spokesperson for Cohen declined to comment on the trades. In 2023, Cohen indicated he was planning to embark on a stand-up tour when the idea of resurrecting the character was first discussed.
