Pixar’s new film Elemental follows a family of fire elements living in a city that wasn’t built for them. Bernie (Ronnie Del Carmen) and Cinder (Shila Ommi) have traveled from their home in Fireland to try to make a new life for themselves, and their daughter Ember (Leah Lewis) has only ever known Element City. It’s an affirming family story that features both a strong message and a dazzling showcase of exceptional animation.
I had the chance to speak with Ommi about the joy of getting to continue her voice work with this Pixar project. We also checked in about her Apple TV+ series Tehran, which has already filmed its third season, and her directorial debut, Wake Up Sleeping Beauty.
