Jean Todt may have been a champion race-car driver but he was apparently a slowpoke when it came to his personal life. After a courtship that lasted 19 years—6,992 days in waiting—he finally walked down the aisle this week with Michelle Yeoh.
The 60-year old Oscar-winning actress and the 77-year old retired Ferrari CEO officially tied the knot at a ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland on Thursday. The couple had met in Shanghai on June 4, 2004 and Todt proposed to her six weeks later.

The Malaysia-born Yeoh won the Academy Award for Best Actress earlier this year for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. In so doing, she became the first Asian woman and only the second person of color to win the statuette in the Academy’s 95-year history. Photos of the wedding ceremony included some selfies with the Oscar, affectionately known as “Mr. O.”
As Yeoh told a reporter back in May, “Right now, Mr. O is still traveling with me. I have to share him with people who’ve helped me to be where I am today. So when I go back home next time, I will let Mr. O hang out with my mom.”
Pictures of the wedding ceremony were shared on Instagram by Felipe Massa, the ex-Ferrari Formula 1 driver. They showed Yeoh in various outfits, including a beige dress with a silken bodice accented by gold detailing. Todt wore a smart navy blue suit for the occasion
The bridegroom confessed that he didn’t use a computer so didn’t know how to send digital messages to his fiancée after they met in 2004. He enlisted Michael Schumacher to teach him the basics about SMS.
When she won her Oscar in March, Yeoh delivered an enthusiastic speech including a reference to patient endurance that could also apply to her long engagement.

This is Yeoh’s second marriage. She was yoked to Hong Kong businessman Dickson Poon from 1988 to 1991. Todt has a son, Nicolas, from a previous marriage.
