Wildwood Title Reveal | LAIKA Studios / Directed by Travis Knight

The first trailer for LAIKA‘s upcoming movie, Wildwood, the latest epic stop-motion animated adventure has been revealed following the release of the first artwork last month.

The company will be making its sixth feature, and Travis Knight is directing it from a script by Chris Butler (ParaNorman, Missing Link) based on Colin Meloy’s novel. The story follows seventh-grade Portlander Prue McKeel and her best friend Curtis explore a forest that was hidden and enchanted by the original settlers, who called it the ‘impassable wilderness.”

The woods are seeking to keep people from any secrets that may be concealed, including her baby brother Mac who was abducted by a crow and a mysterious woman named Alexandra who has been buried within the forest’s depths. She and dorky classmate Curtis embark on a transformative adventure filled with danger, magic, talking animals, and surprisingly sophisticated political intrigue for a tween-targeted YA book series.

Jake Johnson intones ominously over shots of Coraline, ParaNorman, and Kubo’s heroes heading into dark forests where the trees conceal darker secrets as they journey into places that were never meant for human exploration.

Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amanda Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits and Richard E. Grant lend their voices to the project.

We’ll be heading into the woods with them all when Wildwood comes to our screens sometime in 2025.
