Sony Pictures has dropped a first trailer for Karate Kids : Legends, which is the feature that gathering multiple generations from one of the most successful franchise.
Two senseis are better than one, Ralph Macchio, star of the original trilogy as well as the Netflix revival Cobra Kai, stars alongside Jackie Chan, who played Karate teacher Mr. Han 2010 The Karate Kid movie.
In the trailer, “You knew Mr. Miyagi?” Daniel asks Mr. Han. “I did not come here for Sensei Miyagi,” Han responds. “I came here for you.” Just like a Kung Fu master to deflect! But later in the preview, Han reveals that he knows about Daniel’s close relationship with Mr. Miyagi. “Li is to me what you meant to Sensei Miyagi.”
Then comes the kicker, with this tagline: “When families unite, a new legacy begins.” The Han family and the Miyagi family are connected all the way back to the old times. And there is a mention of this within the Karate Kid movie canon for those people who want to go looking for it.”
Jonathan Entwistle directs Karate Kids : Legends, which stars Ben Wang as a young karate student. Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight and Wyatt Oleff also on the call sheet. It has a script from Rob Lieber.
Karate Kid was a surprise hit in 1984 that starred Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, a feisty East Coast transplant to the San Fernando Valley. He overcomes the odds and becomes a champion under the guidance of Mr. Miaygi (Great Pat Morita).
Afterwards, there were two more films and one starring Hilary Swank. The 2010 movie starred Jaden Smith opposite Jackie Chan. Cobra Kai premiered on YouTube Red in 2018 and later moved to Netflix, where it became a hit for the streaming service. The last season six episodes will be released in February to bring it to an end.
