Row K Entertainment premiered the teaser trailer for “Good Will Hunting” and “Milk” director Gus Van Sant’s crime drama “Dead Man’s Wire”.

Based on a true story, the film deals with the 1977 kidnapping of a prominent banker that grips the nation and turns the abductor into an outlaw folk hero.

As the media frenzy peaks, the standoff becomes a spectacle of desperation, defiance, and blurred justice, which resonates even today.

The film was written by Austin Kolodney, who drew inspiration from the 2018 documentary “Dead Man’s Line“, in which Tony Kiritsis attached a gun to his mortgage broker Richard Hall’s head in a way that would detonate if Kiritsis tried to flee or was shot.

He was responsible for holding the man captive for 63 hours. Bill Skarsgård plays Kiritsis, Dacre Montgomery plays Hall, and Colman Domingo plays local radio host Fred Temple who gets pulled into the event.

The film has scored strong reviews on the festival circuit and currently 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. “Dead Man’s Wire” will arrive in select theaters on January 9th followed by a wide release on January 16th.
