Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for their upcoming epic, The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan. The trailer was unveiled on the episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that aired on Monday night.

The trailer showcases a more expansive version of Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic, with Theron as Circe and Pattinson as Antinous attempting to overthrow Odysseus’s kingdom of Ithaca.

The pic stars Matt Damon as Odysseus alongside an all-star cast that includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal and John Leguizamo.

The footage reveals the character of Cyclopesps, who has already been holding one of Odysseus’ soldiers in his grip. In the trailer, there is more violence depicted from the Battle of Troy, an encounter with the Laestrygonians, a cannibalistic race of giants, and a glimpse of Odysseus’ dog Argo.

Nolan wrote and produced the screenplay for Homer’s ancient poem with Emma Thomas using their Syncopy banner.

The pic from the Oscar-winning “Oppenheimer” filmmaker was shot using new Imax technology and comes out on July 17, 2026 in theaters.
