Disney Pictures recently unveiled the final trailer for their upcoming live-action adaptation of “Moana“, the 2016 animated film.
17-year-old Australian actress Catherine Laga’aia, known for her role in “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart,” takes on the title role alongside Dwayne Johnson, who once again portrays the demigod Maui, joining them is “The Expanse” alum Frankie Adams as Moana’s mother, Sina; John Tui from “Battleship” as Moana’s father, Chief Tui; and the esteemed Rena Owen from “Once Were Warriors” as the revered Gramma Tala.
In Disney’s live-action remake, Moana responds to the Ocean’s beckon and, for the very first time, embarks on a voyage beyond her island reef Motunui, accompanied by the notorious demigod Maui, for an extraordinary odyssey to rejuvenate her people’s fortunes.
Thomas Kail directs the production, which is adapted from a script jointly written by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller.
The “Moana” live-action movie is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 10th
