Warner Brothers, Legendary Pictures and IMAX have debuted the second trailer and a fresh poster for Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three,” a preview that only appeared nearly four months after the initial teaser, which first surfaced in March, and now comes five months before the movie’s scheduled release.

In addition, it has been verified that supplementary footage from the film will accompany IMAX 70mm presentations of “The Odyssey“. During a Q&A session, Villeneuve stated that he “developed a unique mini unit of two filmmakers, with their sole purpose being to conduct experimental shots in front of the camera, aiming to gather bizarre and insane footage for the movie.”

The film will be derived from the 1969 novel “Dune Messiah”. Beginning seventeen years later, the new film follows Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) as he rules as Emperor, wed to Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh), while also maintaining a connection with his concubine, Chani (Zendaya).

Opposition against him comes from forces, including the Bene Tleilax – a mysterious, xenophobic sect engaged in genetic modifications and biological merchandise trafficking. Villeneuve claims the film will tone down more towards a thriller genre and also include more action sequences than the previous two movies.

The film marks the end of the partnership between Chalamet and Villeneuve in this cinematic realm. The main project, shot primarily on 65mm film stock, also includes shots in 15/70mm IMAX film. The desert scenes, which there are many of, were shot using IMAX Digital. “Dune: The Trilogy” is scheduled to debut in theaters on December 18th.
