Toho and GKIDS Films have released a second teaser trailer for the anticipated “Godzilla Minus Zero,” the sequel to Toho’s highly acclaimed, internationally successful and Oscar-winning “Godzilla Minus One”.
Writer/director Takashi Yamazaki, who is also the VFX wizard, returns to his company Shirogumi for this film once more, just as they handled the visual effects for the previous movie.
“Godzilla Minus One,” the sequel to the Reiwa era’s 2016 film “Shin Godzilla,” released in 2023, occurred in post-World War II devastated Japan, where the nation faced a fresh wave of destruction triggered by Godzilla.
With a $15 million budget, it earned $116 million, making it the highest-grossing live-action film in Japan for 2023, achieving third place among non-English films in the U.S. market. It also received strong reviews from both critics and audiences.
Set two years later in 1949, the film follows Japan’s journey as it attempts to move beyond the horrors of war and the presence of monsters.
Following the April teaser, the new clip predominantly features more human elements, including what seems like an effort to bomb the creature.
