Universal Pictures, along with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, has released a second trailer for “Other Mommy,” a new horror/thriller set for cinema release on October 9th.

The project is depicted as a harrowing journey into the gloomy realm of young Bela, who develops an unsettling bond with an ominous figure in her home that eerily resembles her own mother. Jessica Chastain assumes the dual role of Bela’s mother and the entity’s manifestation.

Also starring are Arabella Olivia Clark (“The Housemaid”) as Bela, Jay Duplass (“Industry”) as Bela’s father Daddo, Dichen Lachman (“Severance”), Arian Moayed (“Succession”) and screen legend Karen Allen (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”).

“Host” and “The Boogeyman” helmer Rob Savage directs while “The Conjuring” and “Saw” filmmaker James Wan produces the movie.

Nathan Elston, who won the WGA award for his script in the TV series “Succession,” based his work on the New York Times bestselling novel “Incidents Around the House” by Josh Malerman. Malerman’s novel “Bird Box” was later adapted into a successful Netflix film starring Sandra Bullock.
