Winona Ryder will be joining the cast of Netflix’s Wednesday as it enters is third season. Ryder, who has starred in Stranger Things and Beetlejuice, will reportedly play the role of Tabitha, a new character in the series. Eve Green will also appear in the role of Morticia Addams’s troubled sister Aunt Ophelia.
Netflix has also revealed that four more actors will be joining the series in its third year: Chris Sarandon as Balthazar, Noah Taylor as Cyrus, Oscar Morgan as Atticus, and Kennedy Moyer as Daisy.
In addition, the entire Addams family will be returning: Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, Luis Guzman as Gomez, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley,, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama, Joonas Suotamo as Lurch, and Victor Dorobantu as Thing.
Returning Nevermore students will include Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Evie Templeton as Agnes DeMille, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, and Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus. Other returnees include Billie Piper as Isadora Capri, Liv Spencer as Varicose, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Sheriff Ritchie Santiago.
Shooting for the third season will continue in Ireland, anticipating a premiere sometime during 2027.
Wednesday’s director and executive producer Tim Burton issued a statement that read: “I am so happy that Winona has joined us, she fits right into this world, and she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her.”
Al Gough and Miles Millar, the creators and showrunners for the popular series, added: “When it comes to Outcasts, Winona Ryder is the GOAT. Her legendary partnership with Tim Burton has defined some of cinema’s most unforgettable characters. We loved collaborating with her on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome her to Nevermore.”
Ryder had also previously worked with Burton on Edward Scissorhands and the 2012 animated feature Frankenweenie. She was nominated twice for an Academy Award; once for best supporting actress in The Age of innocence and again for best actress in Little Women. Her other TV roles included The Plot Against America and Show Me a Hero.
