Following yesterday’s announcement by the poster, Paramount Pictures revealed the teaser trailer for filmmaker Ti West’s “Ebenezer,” a fresh interpretation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

Johnny Depp will portray Ebenezer Scrooge in the movie and was present, decked out in costume and makeup, to publicize the film at San Diego Comic Con. Depp attended a Paramount presentation and a pop-up location claimed to depict Scrooge’s workplace.

The movie is depicted as a “exciting ghost tale occurring in Dickens’ London, chronicling the experiences of a single individual as they embark on a supernatural odyssey to confront their past, present, and future, and struggle for a second chance.”

The cast also features Ian McKellen as Jacob Marley, Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Trammell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Daisy Ridley as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Also onboard are Rupert Grint as Bob Cratchit, Sam Claflin as Fred, Charlie Murphy and Ellie Bamber as the Fezziwigs, Nicholas Day as a Minister, and Arthur Conti as a young Ebenezer.

The project is scripted by Nathaniel Halpern, with Emma Watts in charge of production. This will designate Depp’s first significant studio lead role since 2018.

“Ebenezer” is set for a November 13th 2026 theatrical release.
