Shudder has dropped a brad new official U.S trailer for “Dario Argent Panico.  The film was initially premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival’s “Venice Classics” section. The films marks the first biopic doc about a legendary filmmaker Argento. 

The man behind classics such as Suspiria and Deep Red is celebrated by impressive list if fellow directors, includes featuring interviews with Nicolas Winding Refn, Gaspar Noè, Guillermo Del Toro, Michele Soavi, Lamberto Bava, Franco Ferrini, and his family Asia Argento, Fiore Argento. The film has a plenty of behind-the-scenes footage showcasing the man at work. 

The film is an immersive deep dive into the creative process of a titular Italian filmmaker Dario Argento as he finishes writing the script for his last feature in a hotel as a film crew shoots a movie about him, revealing his profound impact on horror and his lasting influence on cinema.

Argento is now 83 years old and continues to make films – Dark Glasses was out in 2022, and this film covers a bit of the making of that one. If you’ve never seen any of his films, it is always a good time to catch up with films like, Suspiria, or Inferno, or Deep Red, or Tenebrae. 

The official synopsis reads as follows: “In the secluded ambiance of hotel rooms, Dario Argento crafted his greatest cinematic creations, seeking solace from the outside world to delve into his nightmares. Now, he finds himself in a hotel room to return to the very setting that ignited his creative fervor to conclude his latest script and participate in an intimate interview, all while being followed by a film crew documenting his life for a movie about his illustrious career.”

 The Dario Argento series runs January 31 through February 8 at the IFC Center and will include Suspiria (1977), Opera (1987), Deep Red (1975), Dario Argento Panico (2024), The Cat o’ Nine Tails(1971), Dracula 3D (2013), The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970), Vortex (2021) and Four Flies on Grey Velvet (1982). Shudder’s VP of Programming, Sam Zimmerman previously had this to say about the film. Simone Scafidi’s documentary Dario Argento Panico will arrive on Shudder on February 2.
